An Exaggerated Story! (Pangolin)

              Today, I’m going to write about a rather unusual topic. There are stories going on the web about Alien killed by villagers, Gorkha (grave digger) and “Alien” killed in Pakistan.  And this picture is given along with it. In a single look I recognized it. It’s actually an anteater or Indian pangolin to be exact. Then there are some bloggers, who although are correcting this fact but on the other hand, due to their lack of knowledge and research, making people believe that Pakistanis are too much superstitious or some savages, which is totally unacceptable. That’s why I’m writing this post to tell, what it really is and what really happened.

The beast of Balouchistan!

Most of you may have read or heard about dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops and

Pterodactyl. But today I’m going to write about a very interesting ancient animal, about which you probably don’t know. This animal is called “Paraceratherium” or “Baluchitherium” meaning “Beast of Baluchistan” (named after Baluchistan a province of Pakistan). It is also known as “Indricotherium”. The reason I’m writing about it in my blog is that the bones of this animal were first found in Baluchistan, Pakistan by Sir Clive Forster Cooper in 1910. Where did Cheetah go!

Most people in Pakistan don’t even know there are Cheetahs in Pakistan. This Magnificent creature deserves more attention from us. The animal I’m talking about is called Asiatic Cheetah,  also known as Iranian Cheetah as the last few are found mostly in Iran and its scientific name is “Acinonyx Jubatus Venaticus“. Few years ago I read an article about Asiatic Cheetah in Pakistan.

Hello people!

This is my first post and I hope you would like it. I’m going to share some interesting facts about wild life of Pakistan. When I searched the net for this topic, there was nothing about it. There where some pages about animals native only to Japan, America and Australia but nothing about Pakistan so I thought why not write something about it. As Pakistan isn’t an island and it is connected to other countries by land therefore there aren’t many animals endemic to Pakistan. So, here are some animals I could find.

1. Indus blind Dolphin (Platanista minor)

• Introduction:-

It is also called Bhulan. It is also Pakistan’s national aquatic marine   

mammal. It is a sub-specie of South Asian river dolphin. It is one of the most endangered river dolphin. It’s eye sight is very weak, as the name suggests, due to the muddy water of of Indus river.

• Habitat:-

They are found in Indus river in the area starting from Guddu barrage to Sukkur barrage.
